About

is organised by Nederlands Fotomuseum together with PhotoQ, Paradox, Noorderlicht, Jenny Smets and IDFA DocLab. It is an initiative of the intendant documentary photography, financially supported by Fonds BKVB.

The international conference PhotoStories – Where photography meets multimedia storytelling departed from the assertion that there is a substantial lack of information on this subject in the Netherlands. Its aim is to present us new concepts of storytelling and help us to imagine new perspectives on the future of the medium – very much in line with the Nederlands Fotomuseum’s ambitions to support innovation in the field of photography. The conference contained a dazzling and packed programme of first class lectures, workshops, meetings and discussions from leading international figures in the field of media, cinema and photography. The first conference was held in May 2011 at de Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam. The follow-up took place in Groningen, in September 2011, during the Noorderlicht Fotofestival.
